b19 Consulting is working with an established power delivery company to find a Substation Physical Engineer working coming from an electrical utility background.
Basic Qualifications:
- 4+ years utility substation design experience (15kV through to 500kV)
- Bachelors’ degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on high voltage and power distribution systems.
- Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without need for sponsorship.
- Strong communication skills to co-ordinate with project engineers, designers and client representatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5-15 years utility substation engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Proficiency with AutoCAD (2016 or newer) software
- Proficiency with MicroStation (V8 or newer).
- Proficiency with CDEGS & grounding calculations.
- Experience leading & mentoring junior engineers
- Detailed design of new substation layouts using electrical schematics, bill of materials and equipment specifications.
- Experience preparing substation design calculations such as bus sizing, power loading, DC loading, lighting and cable sizing.
- Understanding of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
- Interpreting vendor information to provide design deliverables
- Ability to lead a large portion or the entirety of a substation design project.
