Basic Qualifications:
• 10+ years utility substation physical or protection & control design experience (15kV through to 500kV)
• Bachelors’ degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on high voltage and power distribution systems.
• Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without need for sponsorship.
• Strong communication skills to co-ordinate with project engineers, designers and client representatives.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel & Word.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or working towards obtaining.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD (2016 or newer) software
• Work experience with MicroStation (V8 or newer).
• Experience leading teams of engineers & drafters
• QA/QC approval of detailed substation designs from team members in the department
• Experience preparing substation design calculations such as bus sizing, power loading, DC loading, lighting and cable sizing.
• Understanding of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Interpreting vendor information to provide design deliverables
• Client facing experience onsite at electrical utilities
